Naughty or Nice

Which list are you on? Naughty or Nice?

I'd like to think that we are all on the nice list but then again.... being naughty can be so much fun. Am I right?

Speaking of lists, what's on your wish list this year? Is it something naughty? Or nice? Maybe a bit of both?

I think everyone deserves to have a little naughty mixed in with all the nice. Don't you agree?

The Dating Game

Is it a game?

In my opinion, I would say no!

Are there those who treat it that way?

Well, of course. As with everything, you will always run across those who don't take the task seriously. Now, I'm not suggesting that you shouldn't have some fun along the way. After all, dating is supposed to be fun. 

However, I do question the methods of dating when you've passed what some might consider the "prime dating time". While I may not be in my twenties (or even thirties) anymore, I am under the impression that I personally, am in the prime of my life.

What does this mean for dating?

In my way of thinking, I'm passed the age of hanging out in crowded bars looking for "hookups". Passed the age of going to wild parties or singles clubs. On the flip side, I think it does mean meeting for coffee, dinner, movie, etc. Taking things slow and getting to know each other on an intellectual level before proceeding to the physical side. This isn't to say that I'm not interested in the physical... because hey! I am a born and bread American woman, so yes, of course that's important. Just not all a relationship should be based on.

Let's talk about some of the crazy things I've run across in the dating pool lately that drive me bonkers........

• "Come on baby, send me a pic of your naked self." (NOT going to happen. I mean, come on... I might want to run for President one day. lol)
• "Are you cold?" (Just because my "nips" might be pushing against my bra does not mean I want to be asked every flipping time I'm around you if I'm cold. UGH!)
• "You're gonna leave me just like my other girlfriends." (Ummmmm.... Yeah, that's a check in the positive column for you... NOT!)
• "I have to take this call from my ex. She might need me to work on her car." (Okay..... I think this one needs no further elaboration.)

I think you get the point I'm trying to make. Now my question is, are there any real men out there who want to look beyond the surface veneer and see what's inside your heart? Are there any guys who understand what it means to have a passion for writing and that it's not just a hobby? Someone among the male population who are willing to spend time with you as a couple, but also see that you each need your own space sometimes?

I'm not giving up hope. If anything my resolve is stronger than ever to seek out that perfect someone. Yes, I realize no one is perfect and I don't expect that, because I am far from such. However, I do believe with all my heart that everyone has a sole mate out there...... Let's just see if I can find mine.

So I say..... let the dating game continue!

Does anyone else find it amusing that these days you can’t view anything online without signing up, signing in, or creating a profile? And of course you can always use your Facebook ID… Yes! Let’s give FB another way to track our movements so they can send ads our way. Granted, I’m an author and depend on ads for publicity too. But, just because I view pictures of say, engagement rings for research, does that mean I want ads for baby products popping up in my sidebar. I mean really? Even if someone is engaged or getting engaged, does that mean they are automatically expecting a baby?

One example is today, for instance, I clicked on a link to read one of my favorite author’s blog entries and low and behold… I HAD to create an account. No problem. I’m not opposed to that. But then, it gives me no choice but to create a blog entry. Hmmm…. I already have two places that I post my blogs, so now here’s a third. Okay. We’ll see how it goes with WordPress. I’ve heard a lot about them, all good, so far, but does that mean I should have to move my blog entry over to them? I suppose I could go without putting on on the site, but hey, what’s the fun in that? Right?

So, I am posting here (Wordpress.com) to see how it works. So far, so good. The ease of setting it up was fairly simple, although I never had a problem with Katorah’s thoughts on blogspot or my website:www.katorahkenway.com but we’ll see how this goes. :-)

SWAG

I recently had the opportunity to attend an author event in Milwaukee, WI and found myself enthralled by the variety of SWAG items that were offered. I suppose I'm paying closer attention to these things since I'll be attending the River City Book Bash 2015, as a signing author, in July (Cincinnati, OH) so I'm looking for things that would be good to add to my giveaway list. I'm also working on a gift basket for the event that will be raffled off. 

The thing that amazes me is the wide array of price ranges for these items. As an Indie Author, I want to be able to provide some unique items but not break the bank at the same time. With the help of my fellow author, Riann Leigh and a couple of great friends, we have been scouring the net for the perfect things. What are some of the things you like to get when you attend an event?

While I'm taking a moment to discuss SWAG, let me just say that I was thrilled to get a signed copy of a Terry Spear book as part of the luncheon SWAG, among other things. Sharing lunch with this author was a fantastic experience. She's an amazingly interesting woman and I was honored to have the opportunity to sit at her table. If you haven't already, be sure to check out her books and give them a read.

Also in attendance was Damon Suede. His book, Hot Head, is a must read! I actually met him for the first time a few years ago in Kansas City and immediately found myself drawn to the cover of Hot Head and to Damon, himself. He has a great sense of presence and a wonderful conversationalist. I also noticed that his gift basket that was being raffled off contained an abundance of tickets. Everybody wanted what he was giving away. If memory serves me right, there was a Kindle tucked in among the items. SWEET!

Thanks to Barbara Vey for hosting this fabulous event/luncheon that not only gave fans an opportunity to interact with some of the best authors, but also managed to raise $10,074 for the American Cancer Society. I definitely plan to attend again next year.

No trip to Milwaukee would be complete without visiting the life-size statue of "The Fonz" so "Hannah" had an opportunity to discuss life on the riverfront with him. Thanks for Laura Therault for her eye behind the camera.
